Boldozer Consulting founder Viktoriya Zakrevskaya joined the First Ukrainian Podcast for a 45-minute interview hosted in cooperation with the United Ukraine Think Tank. The conversation focused on shifting power dynamics after the recent Shanghai summit, with particular attention to China’s evolving role in the global order.
Zakrevskaya noted that the coalition China is fostering is “less a cohesive bloc and more a reactive alliance,” with Beijing acting as the financial and institutional leader. Russia, she underlined, is increasingly relegated to a junior role, contributing military disruption without economic leverage. Alongside Iran, North Korea, Belarus, Syria, and a number of Global South actors, the grouping reflects both dissatisfaction with Western dominance and the rise of alternative political and economic institutions.
India’s position was highlighted as a key variable. While it cooperates with China pragmatically in forums such as BRICS and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, Zakrevskaya emphasized the limits of this cooperation: “Border conflicts and China’s military ties with Pakistan mean New Delhi will balance economic engagement with strengthened partnerships in the U.S. and UK.”
The full interview is available via the link, offering insights not only into these emerging geopolitical coalitions but also their impact on European security, commodity flows, and global business strategy.
